Leader Biography

Debbie Ross is a Kurrumbilla woman and proud Olkola Traditional Owner from Cape York, Queensland. As CEO of the Olkola Aboriginal Corporation, she has transformed the organisation into a nationally recognised leader in Indigenous land management, cultural preservation, and sustainable enterprise.

Debbie began her journey with Olkola in 2014, rising from Operations Manager to CEO through her commitment to Country and community. Under her leadership, the corporation has launched successful ranger programs, carbon abatement initiatives, and cultural tourism ventures that celebrate Olkola heritage while creating economic opportunities for future generations.

A passionate advocate for Indigenous rights, Debbie works closely with research institutions, government bodies, and grassroots organisations to ensure Olkola voices are heard in national conversations. Her vision centres on empowering women and youth, protecting sacred sites, and fostering pride in cultural identity.
