Meet Ceanne Lamont
Ceanne is a proud Worimi woman and the Managing Director of ICC Industrial Corrosion Control, an abrasive sandblasting and protective coatings company.
Together with her husband, she was motivated to start ICC with the goal of creating generational wealth; something that hadn’t been common in her family. Starting from the ground up with no funds and relying solely on their skills and knowledge, their drive and determination have been key to building the business into what it is today.

Tell us about your business and what motivated you to grow your business
I’m a proud Worimi woman and the Managing Director of ICC Industrial Corrosion Control, which is an abrasive sandblasting and protective coatings company. My company, ICC specialises in Abrasive Sand Blasting and Surface Protective Coatings, achieving maximum barrier protection across galvanising corrosive atmospheres minimising electrolyte penetration.
Working with Many Rivers
In the start-up phase, we initially joined a business startup program through IBA, where we were introduced to Many Rivers. We sought their help to develop our business plan, and the support has been incredible.
Starting a business isn’t easy. There’s a lot you don’t know, and Many Rivers guided us through every step, offering advice, encouragement, and practical support. Mentally, it was crucial to have someone to turn to, whether by phone or email, whenever we weren’t sure about something.
After the business planning stage, I started a three-year growth program with Gina. Together, we focus on cash flow, marketing, and training programs. Having this structured support has been essential for our development.
Growth Aspirations
One of my main growth aspirations has been mastering cash flow projections. I’m not an accountant, so I had to learn quickly. Gina taught me everything I know about managing cash flow, including how to enter project work correctly and forecast finances.
We work together every month to review projections, track payments, and plan for taxes and GST. This has helped me understand the real ebbs and flows of the business, ensuring I never overestimate available funds and always maintain financial control.
Another aspect was learning the cost of goods sold in detail. For example, calculating every expense from PPE and materials to labour ensures we’re charging correctly and hitting our break-even points. This kind of clarity is essential for a growing company like ours, especially as we work with Tier 1 clients.
Impact of the Small Business Development Program
The SBD program has been pivotal in keeping my doors open and helping me become a confident managing director. It keeps me accountable and ensures I stay focused on my goals, even when day-to-day work gets overwhelming.
Having Gina as a mentor is like having a trusted friend in business. I can discuss challenges, vent, and get practical solutions. Without this support, I wouldn’t have been able to navigate starting from zero and scaling up to work with large clients.
