Fiona’s Business
We have recently launched our business but we’ve been planning and working on our business since April of this year. We are just operating online currently through our website and social media pages. Our honey is highly pure because it is made by bees that live in the Noosa Biosphere, enjoying the clean surroundings of the Pacific Ocean and Cooloola National Park for over 30 years. Every batch of our honey goes through thorough testing at the University of Sunshine Coast to make sure it’s powerful and pure.
We’re truly enthusiastic about the incredible health advantages that our honey provides, and this enthusiasm guides our approach in every aspect, from developing our products to shaping our marketing strategy. For those who may not be familiar, manuka honey is a natural powerhouse packed with nutrients, minerals, and antioxidants. It aids the immune system, promotes wound healing, helps with allergies, supports digestive health, and has skin benefits. We make sure to share these advantages at every opportunity, and we’ve organized exciting competitions to build connections with our audience, aiming to learn valuable insights from their experiences with our product.
To complement this high-grade product, we then invested in top-tier labels because a product of this stature deserved beautiful design. After that, we went on a search for special dark jars to keep the honey safe from light and at the right temperature to make sure the MGO content stayed the same.
Working with Many Rivers
“It has been a pleasure working with our business coach from Many Rivers, Ricky. He has assisted us with the cashflow, insurance necessities and also in terms of getting a loan from Many Rivers.”
Did you get a loan from MR? How did you use the loan?
Yes, we got a loan from Many Rivers. I used it to grow my business by buying more jars, investing in marketing, and covering the cost of bottle labels.
Do you have any current employees? If so, how many employees? Are they full-time or part-time?
Its just me and my daughter running the business right now.
Biggest Challenge
Just like any new business, we have faced a few challenges. One of them was the high cost of testing our first honey samples at the National Measurement Institute. Even though it was an unexpected expense, it turned out to be worthwhile because the test revealed that our honey had an impressive 1500MGO. Secondly, the labels and getting the initial sales were a bit tricky.
Biggest Success
We have to say the high grade MGO of our honey is our biggest success. We feel proud of the fact that every batch of our honey goes through thorough testing at the University of Sunshine Coast to make sure it’s powerful, pure and has the highest grade
Biggest Change
Future Goals
We hope to achieve higher production and utilize the by-products such as wax, lip balms and manuka honey soaps.
Thank you, Fiona, for sharing your business journey with us. We wish you the best of luck with your future endeavours and business success.
