Adam’s Business
My business started in 2015. It’s a multimedia company specializing in Aboriginal and mainstream content, like videography, graphic design, and photography, mainly serving the Adelaide metro area.
What were you doing before you made contact with Many Rivers? Why did you want to go into business?
I worked at the Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute as a marketing and social media Officer. I handled photography and graphic design for their social media and I also have training as a filmmaker.
Working with Many Rivers
I joined The Circle’s program, and their staff referred me to Many Rivers for business development support. I then connected with Many Rivers earlier this year. After getting in touch with my business coach at Many Rivers, Leigh, I received business development advice and guidance, which has been helpful for my growth.
Why did you want to go into business?
I wanted to uplift the community by providing high-quality content. With my background in filmmaking, design, and photography, I wanted to offer these services to the community.
Did you get a loan from MR? How did you use the loan?
I haven’t taken any loans yet.
What did you find the most useful about the assistance from Many Rivers?
The ongoing consultation and support from my business coach, Leigh have been very helpful.
Do you have any current employees? If so, how many employees? Are they full-time or part-time?
Right now, it’s just me. Once my business grows, I aim to hire more staff.
Biggest Challenge
Building brand awareness. I’m still working on promoting my business through networking so the community and organizations can learn about my services.
Biggest Success
Through my production company, I made a short film called “The Getaway”, which won Best First Nations Film at the South Australian Screen Awards. It’s an Aboriginal horror film, and it’s available to watch on my website. Today, it was also selected for the Canberra Horror Film Festival.
Biggest Change
I guess seeing the growth of my business as a content creator. Moreover, seeing the community embrace the content I am making and using the services that I provide.
Future Goals
Thank you, Adam for sharing your business journey with us. We wish you the best of luck with future endeavours and business success.
