Jacqueline’s Business
My business, Jinkigi Consultancy, focuses on supporting individual and organizational growth with a deep respect and understanding of Aboriginal culture. I provide consulting, mentoring, and training services. I started this journey about 4 years ago, in 2020.
What were you doing before you made contact with Many Rivers? Why did you want to go into business?
I have been working part-time to support my income, mainly in health and education. I’m based in Melbourne.
Working with Many Rivers
I came across Many Rivers through a Facebook ad. I felt stuck with my business because I didn’t know much about creating business plans and running a business. When I connected with Many Rivers, I knew it was exactly what I needed.
Why did you want to go into business?
In my previous jobs, I often saw a gap in understanding Aboriginal culture, and that’s what inspired me to start my business.
What services did you receive from Many Rivers? How did it help?
I received business coaching, which has been really helpful in starting my business.
What did you find the most useful about the assistance from Many Rivers?
Many Rivers really wrapped their support around me. Grace, my coach, has been incredibly patient and so helpful in all areas of my business. Thanks to her and Many Rivers, I feel confident moving forward. Also I want to add that the ongoing support by Many Rivers is the best part, Grace meets with me every couple of weeks to discuss how my business is doing and growth ideas.
Did you get a loan from MR? How did you use the loan?
No, I didnt get a loan from Many Rivers.
Do you have any current employees? If so, how many employees? Are they full-time or part-time?
It’s just me managing my business, but I do collaborate with other consultants on different programs.
Biggest Challenge
Understanding how to run a business has been tough; things like managing social media, creating a website, developing business plans, and applying for grants. Promoting my business has also been a challenge.
Biggest Success
Getting my website up and running was a big milestone for me. I’ve also had people refer me to organizations for training sessions, which is exciting. Networking has really paid off.
Biggest Change
I’ve gained a lot of confidence and truly believe I can do this. It’s been a journey that I’ve shared with my family and friends.
Future Goals
In the short term, I want to keep promoting my business. In the long term, I aim to become financially independent and dedicate myself to my business full-time. I also want to give back to my community and make a positive difference.
Thank you, Jacqueline for sharing your business journey with us. We wish you the best of luck with future endeavours and business success.
