Meet Mary, an interspecies communications specialist and the small business owner of Sacred Whispers from Bendigo VIC.
Sacred Whispers is an interspecies communication specialist business that teaches a unique style of animal communication. Since opening her business, Mary has found it very rewarding to create and connect with a like-minded community through her small business.
“Frankie, my Many Rivers business coach, was there during times when I found things hard and she had my back. Everyone should have a Frankie in their life.”

Meet Mary
My business is empowering people to empower themselves. I also make vibrational essences for people and animals with dealing with trauma to improve wellness. I have been operating for about 12 months. About five years ago, I had a brain injury, so I started to develop the concept earlier but now I have been fully focused on it for a year now.
I offer one-on-one treatments for people and their animals. For people it is to help them move out of emotional pain by using vibration essences to help shift them from that space. Also, I have a range of vibrational essences for animals. I have five in the range that specifically help animals in wellness, grief, depression, shock and trauma.
I did the NEIS program and then Matchworks, an unemployment agency in Bendigo, suggested that I give Frankie a ring. My previous work experience was as a secretary. My last job was working with the elderly in WA and doing movement and social integration.
I wanted to go into business simply for the fact of having a brain injury, I couldn’t work in the office structure. I wanted to be my own boss but also to share my experience of going through the injury. Also, I wanted to be working with nature and the essences. Working in a standard job didn’t give me the time to go out into nature. Now I have the flexibility to make my own decision and be my own boss.
Mary’s Experience as a Business Owner
For me, it has been a journey of leadership skills and leading myself. I find leading a team and leading yourself is very different. You have to have personal leadership before you can lead a team. It is all about mindset and leadership. It is putting those routines into place and creating a structure for your day. When you’re working for a business you’re following their structure, but I needed more flexibility.
Becoming a small business owner of Sacred Whispers has been a big lifestyle change for me because I am working with people who have the same values and vision as me. It is growing that organic team of likeminded people who can support you in your vision. I think this is what differentiates it from working a 9 to 5 job. I find the connection of growing a community means we all rise together. We look at other people’s growth personally, physically, mentally, spiritually – it brings me so much joy.
Working with Many Rivers
Frankie has been amazing. She gave really great support in how to set up a business and how to structure a business. Frankie knows that I am bad at managing paperwork, so she gave me tips on how to manage it and set up my diary. She was there during times when I found things hard and she had my back. Everyone should have a Frankie in their life.
Frankie has been an immense support to me and Sacred Whispers. She may think that it is just that one-hour call but it’s more. It is getting the clarity and having the ability to ask what ever question you want and knowing she’ll always have an answer or help direct me to the right answer.
She has given me information on setting up business bank account with Westpac and I know there is legal support at Many Rivers there if I need it. She just helped me a lot with how to structure my books and invoicing. We used to have weekly meetings, then it went down to once a month and now I call her when I need her.
Biggest Challenge
My biggest challenge is getting out there and getting my small business seen. I quite like to stay in the bush really, but I need to get my message out to the world. I’d much rather be able to delegate these tasks to someone else eventually. That is going to be the next steppingstone. COVID-19 was rough, but I have been determined not to give up.
Biggest Success
The biggest success is putting the effort in everyday and having an outcome. People are getting to know me.
Future Goals for Sacred Whispers
One of my biggest goals is to be a public speaker and help people realise their dreams and be able to empower people. I would like to use what I value, so using vibration essences, the environment and animals to help people have better connection to the environment and themselves.
