Meet Rhubee, the small business owner of “Desert Rhubees Creation” based in Adelaide, SA. She is a creative artist, mostly making paintings and selling them at the “Glenelg Art Gallery”. She is also planning to sell her paintings online very soon.
‘It’s been a childhood dream to get my art and music out into the broader world and so this is why I want to build Desert Rhubees Creation. In the future I’d love to have a store, a gallery and to travel overseas!’ – Rhubee

Rhubee’s Business
Prior to reaching out to Many Rivers, I was working as a full-time mentor at the women shelter in Alice springs, NT for about two years. After this job, I decided to convert my art into a business. Painting, art, and singing has always been my passion and I just want to work for myself. It gives me security that I can earn for myself and be financially independent.
Working with Many Rivers
My son recommended me to contact Many Rivers, so I did and then I got in touch with Leigh Atkins. I am grateful to Leigh as he is a very supportive business coach and mentor for me.
“My business coach from Many Rivers, Leigh, assisted me with managing cash flow and creating a business plan. Now, we’re progressing to the next stage, exploring avenues to sell my art, like markets. The next challenge is securing funds to expand my business, as I currently lack capital.”
The business coaching part has been the most useful because I was at the verge of giving up many times. Leigh keeps me going and he really helps me with my dyslexia by reading and typing out important content for me. He keeps me on track with my business goals.
Did you get a loan from MR? How did you use the loan?
Not yet but Leigh is trying to help me get a loan from Many Rivers.
Do you have any current employees? If so, how many employees? Are they full-time or part-time?
Its just me.
Biggest Challenge
My biggest challenge is finance, and I am trying to find people who can help me with setting up my website and social media pages. Finance and finding the right resources are the two main challenges for me now.
Biggest Success
Gaining more visibility and awareness about my name and my brand.
Biggest Change
On a personal level, the biggest change has been in my confidence and self-esteem, which have improved greatly. Additionally, I’ve become an empty nester since all my children have grown up and moved out of the house.
Future Goals
In the short term, I aim to achieve financial security so I can support myself without relying on government payments. I aspire to have enough funds to establish a studio where I can operate my business and sell my artwork. Additionally, I want to set up a Shopify website, enabling me to sell my art from anywhere in the world. My immediate priority is to acquire the necessary funds to launch and establish my business successfully.
Thank you, Rhubee Neale for sharing your business journey with us. We wish you the best of luck with future endeavours and business success.
